Exciting news, everyone!
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is slated to be the upcoming home of the world’s first pickleball stadium! (Hm… You probably guessed as much from the title of the post, right?) Yes, the Sunshine State is known for its beaches and vacation getaways, but it’s about to establish itself as the pickleball capital of the world.
What’s Fort Lauderdale Dinking!?
Okay, we may have let our excitement get to us. Let’s take a few steps back.
The City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, recently announced the forthcoming opening of a dedicated pickleball stadium to be known as “The Fort.” Its plans include an on-site pro shop and 43 pickleball courts! Unfortunately for us, the grand opening date isn’t set. However, we know this massive pickleball stadium will be part of Snyder Park at 3299 Southwest 4th Avenue.
Brad Tuckman, CEO of The Fort, has declared the venue will be a “community hub.” It won’t just be a place to play pickleball! Plans also include a fitness and recovery center, a pickleball club, plenty of youth and senior programs, and spaces for live music!
It’s also slated to be the first stop for this year’s APP Tournament.
What Players Can Expect
Are you hoping to play pickleball at The Fort?
We are, too! So, we’ve looked into the organization’s plans. In addition to its unparalleled pickleball experience, The Fort promises to be a place for casual and competitive players to go toe-to-toe. When not in use, its event space will be available for open and reserved play. It also promises to have on-hand pickleball equipment for newcomers.
On the diplomatic side of the aisle, The Fort has positioned itself as an upcoming South Florida tourist attraction. Its recovery center benefits the Fort Lauderdale community, while its massive capacity guarantees uninterrupted play for pickleballers from around the world!
And did we mention its location? The brand-new venue will be outlandishly accessible. It’s practically next door to the Fort Lauderdale airport!
And Some Other Goodies, Too!
Of course, the fun doesn’t stop there. As much as we’d like to believe it, a pickleball-only venue won’t have a significant economic impact in South Florida. So, The Fort has some other plans. Beyond ensuring uninterrupted play for pickleballers, this upcoming Fort Lauderdale venue will include…
- A 4,000-square-foot event space for public and private events.
- A dedicated luxury restaurant, “The Lakehouse,” for all your fine dining needs.
- Multiple dedicated sports areas, including a dart room and golf simulators.
- On-site luxury suites make visiting this exciting new game yard even easier!
How The Fort Plans to Give Back
But this upcoming live music venue and pickleball stadium has a soft side, too.
Founders Brad Tuckman and Rick Campillo announced a partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale to provide local schools with pickleball gear and lessons. The public-private partnership also promises at least 100 new job openings in the Fort Lauderdale area.
